Crafted from all-natural clay material, Römertopf clay roasters are made without Lead, Cadmium, or fillers. They have undergone safety testing in both Europe and the USA to ensure compliance.
The base of the roaster is glazed, which allows effortless cleaning. It is oven and microwave safe and can withstand temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
Before using, it is advised to soak the unglazed lid of the roaster in water. When cooking, the water will evaporate and produce a layer of steam. The lid is purposely made to allow some steam to be released, so it does not create a tight seal.
An ideal roaster for a household with up to 4 people. The volume of 3.2 quarts (3 liters) allows you to prepare great roasts, casseroles and stews. It is also perfect for baking bread. For a capacity of 5.5 lb (2.5 kg)
